When asked, type . (that's a period, or dot, depends on your language approach to the symbol).

Now you are using the Internal editor.

It has not been asked what changed on the computer to suddenly make this happen?

OP - Did you try a System Restore to the night or two before to see if a Windows or other Update hosed the Text Editor?

Have you run a Registry Cleaner recently on the OS?

Dean yes, I've done that too.  The Internal editor is all messed up.  Where you able to understand what it's doing by watching the video?

My system restore is not turned on, so I was not able to try to retore it to an earlier time.

To my knowledge I didn't do anything from what I usually have been doing.  The only abnormal thing that I did was rotate some mulititext. 

Yes, I also ran a registry cleaner, re-booted, etc.   I just don't know where the problem is.

Pop the LT disc in, it will eventually prompt to reinstall ore repair, try the repair first, then the reinstall.

Do you know if re-installing over my current install will reset my custom settings?

I will try the repair first but I'll have to try it later today.  I'm working on a deadline right now.

It will normally do that, so back up and document everything you need to recover.

I assume that just the repair option won't mess up my custom settings but a full reinstall will??

I've backed up my custom menues and tools before but forget in what files those things are located.  Can you post information on backing up these important settings?

I was worried that doing a repair install was going to wipe out my custom menus, etc.   I then realized that I could test this out on my laptop install.  I up in the 2006 LT version and found that it doesn't have a repair option!  It also won't let me install over the existing version.  It suggests that I need to first unisnsall the program before I again install it.  So, I guess that's what I'm going to have to do.

Can someone please instruct me on what program files I should be saving so that I can quickly get things back up and running as I preferr.

After backing up all my "stuff" I figured out how to repair the installation using window's Add / Remove programs.

A quick repair mended my multiline text issues.  It once again works!
