    LT2005 Licence trapped

I've been using LT2005 on a PC and a laptop, swapping with the PLU. During the last cad session on the laptop the machine froze completely. This has happened occasionally (on both machines) and the only way out is the power button. Drastic, but XP has handled it in the past. On this occasion the reboot failed - "Windows cannot start because of a missing or corrupted system file". All attempts so far to recover have failed, including Windows Automated System Recovery - which I suspect has wiped most of my applications anyway. The result is that I now have a PC with LT2005 but the licence trapped on a defunct laptop. I don't particularly want to upgrade, 2005 does all I need and many of the clients I deal with (including some major companies) are still working with 2005 or even earlier. As I'm freelance I have to provide my own software.
Any ideas out there would be welcome.
    Thanks in advance

So you can't just install 2005 from the original disk to a new PC, and
    simply re-authorize?
