AutoCAD 2012 - Not highlighting an object before you select it.

    Hey all.

Anyone know how or why objects aren't being highlighted BEFORE you select them?

In 2011 I was able to (say preview the object) highlight the object before selecting it.

I noticed this when I have a few lines on top of each other and couldn't 'toggle' through to bring the correct line to the front.

Also occurs when hatching by Object, object doesn't highlight.

I am guessing (hoping :smileyindifferent:) its just a varible I can change.

    Cheers.

    Cheers Charles,

but unfortunately that's not the one I am looking for.

When you put your curser over something the object will normally become bold.

When I put my curser over an object a properties box appears, but the object doesn't become bold.

I did a little more research.
OPTIONS > SELECTION (tab) > SELECTION PREVEIW (box)
    Type:Bitcode
    Saved in:Registry
    Initial value:3

Controls the display of selection previewing.

Objects are highlighted when the pickbox cursor rolls over them. This selection previewing indicates that the object would be selected if you clicked. The setting is stored as a bitcode using the sum of the following values:

    0

    Off

    1

On when no commands are active

    2

On when a command prompts for object selection

    Thanks.

    Cheers NormsAUS.

This was a problem that hit me this afternoon and I have no understanding why it all switched off. The only reason I can think of is that I loaded an arx file for a new Point Cloud plugin and since then things were a little different. I suspect it was that because it also turned off my Dynamic Input.

    Anyway, thanks again. Great help.
