Turn off Norton completely: your problem should go away. Set Norton to
default behavior, turn off active scanning when using AutoCAD, and shut down
the 'system crash recovery' abilities of Systemworks as it is conflicting
with AutoCAD/LT.
It also helps a lot if you installed AutoCAD/LT while everything Norton and
all other background running applications were shut down completely.
AutoCAD/LT access the registry in such a manner constantly that Norton and
other similar tools geared towards the masses (and not specifically to
AutoCAD users) see the program as a virus attack and mess it up big time.
For virus protection, scan all files and folders before you use them, not
during. Scan email attachments, disks from vendors and clients, and so on,
and avoid known virus laden applications and download sites (Norton can show
you the way). That is how a virus gets into your system: not typically by
just using the programs on your machine.

> I have looked all over the support site and have tried calling different
people, but no luck as of yet. This is my problem, When drawing in autocad
lt 2002 my computer started locking up and then would crash the system. I
got so severely that it damaged my operating system and all of my data had
to be recovered and system reinstalled. Everything was fine until 2 months
later when it happened again. This time I changed my operating system from
windows 98 to windows 2000 - the guy at the recovery place said that 98 is
an unstable platfor. I just reinstalled my autocad and everything was fine
for the first few days, but now while I am creating my drawings the program
completely locks up and I have to end the task through Norton Utilities. I
have ran a full scan of the program and my entire computer using Norton
system works 2003 and I still can't get rid of this problem. Any thoughts?
