.plt files

Does anyone know of a way to take approx 10,000 .dwg files and run a utility
to print .plt files from each of them? I am sure there is a way to write a
VB scrip to do this but I was hoping that maybe there was an ACAD utility
that could already perform this. I was thinking it would be something like
the LT Dwg Update utility.

No VB needed. Just a plain script (*.scr) will do it. But, out of curiosity,
why in the world would you need 10,000 .plt files?

We currently have that many drawings stored as .dwg files. In place of
purchasing a CAD software or using VoloView (which does not work well with
all of our computers, I was going to propose a solution of saving a dwg and
plt file that anyone could send to our printers. I am always open to other
options, I am just trying to help save the company money and provide a way
for anyone in the building to be able to print CAD drawings. Where could I
find some information on writing the script you refer to?

You'd be better advised to use a more universal format, like PDF. What
happens once you've committed 10,000 drawings to .plt files formatted for
one of your current printers, and that device breaks down, wears out, or
just gets replaced with a newer, better model that's incompatible with your
old one?

In any case, do a search for Batch Plotting Utilities -- there are a number
of them out there.
