pasted object miles from desired insertion point

Using LT 2010     Without reason when copy/ pasting an object from another file  it will not paste to desired insertion point.

It will paste miles away and backwards and upsidedown.    Tried reorienting UCS so files matched , so it now pastes correctly oriented    but still plops it way far away from where I want it to be.

Use COPYBASE (CTRL+SHIFT+C) instead of the more random COPYCLIP (CTRL+C) and you get to pick the actual point of insertion when you 'paste' as part of the 'copy' process.

Otherwise you are simply letting AutoCAD decide for you, which isn't the best way to draft accurately.
