multiple block updating

Hi,

i have a drawing that has about 450 identical instances of a block. The block has visiblity options to show different things. I dont want to edit the block as there isnt anything wrong with it.

What i need to is update the blocks all together to change visibilities. Can this be done globally or is it a case of patience?

cheers

Nigel

Hi, if you can change the visibility thru the properties window you can use the select similar comand to change them all at once.

Assuming all your blocks are in modelspace

Go into modelspace

Right Click

Choose 'Quick Select...'

Object type at the moment is 'Multiple'

Change that to 'Block Reference'

Scroll down the list below block reference until you find the item 'Name'

Now below you have two more items

One says 'Operator' and one says 'Value'

Make sure Operator says 'Equals'

and value is the name of your block

Then click ok. This will select all instances of your block in modelspace

Now right click and choose properties

At the bottom of the properties box there is a section with the heading 'Custom' and in there is an item called 'Visibility' Change that to what you want and all your blocks will change at once.

The above sounds long winded, but it is very quick

Anytime you type out the steps to do something it seems five times longer than it actually is.
