copyclip

Under LT 97 when I copied something to the clipboard and then pasted it into the drawing, it came in as a block (which I could reposition and then explode when I got it where I wanted it). Is there a setting I can modify to make that happen in LT2002, or am I stuck W-blocking and renaming the new block every time I want to do this now?

Once you have copied to clipboard, instead of using
the paste command or tool button, try using your right mouse button. You'll find
there are several options for pasting the copied items, one of which is Paste as
Block.

OR use PASTEBLOCK command, or replace the general paste with Pasteblock
command by adding the CTRL-V function in your menu file under the
**ACCELERATORS section.

Try this: quit LT, find and backup your ACLT.MNS file (found in the Support
sub-folder of LT's program folder). Use Windows Notepad and open the
ACLT.MNS file, scroll down to the **ACCELERATORS section and add the
following line:

[CONTROL+"V"]^C^C_pasteblock

Now restart LT and enjoy.

Simon, thanks for the reply. I tried it and see what you mean, except that I have my right click function set to "enter", and it would take changing old habits to use the enter key after each command.

Dean, your added line in the aclt.mns file worked; thanks very much!

Your welcome: now go the extra step and change CTRL-C to COPYBASE instead of
the less useful COPYCLIP command.

Hi, Dean-
I tried and couldn't figure out how to do that. Can you coach me into it? And by the way, thanks so much for what you are doing here. I read the comment on the OLE insertion that someone left, and your response to his comments helped me put the dynamics of this forum into perspective. And I REALLY appreciate your contributions here. Your promptness to answer questions has been a real help to me, and others. 🙂

In the **ACCELERATORS section of the ACLT.MNS file (make sure you back up
the one you already have first), add the following:

[CONTROL+"C"]^C^C_copybase

Following what you had told me before, that is what I did. I have copied that section from the .mns file to let you see it and see if I put it in the wrong place. Or do I need to delete the other file regarding CONTROL-C?

What other file? What you posted is correct for the ACLT.MNS file
content. Are you sure you edited the correct file?

Oh, I figured out what I was doing wrong. I didn't look at the command line to see that it takes things in a different order (asking me to input the base point before selecting the objects). When all else fails... 🙂
