buying a new laptop

I'm thinking of buying a new laptop from Dell for Chistmas and can have it loaded with, and this is their quote: Genuine Windows Vista Business Bonus - Windows XP Professional downgrade as the operating system. I'm still using AutoCad LT2000. Can I run LT2000 with this XP Pro ? Thanks

I run XP Pro on a Dell laptop and I use LT2008 without problems. I did max the ram to 2 gig, however.
LT is math intensive, though not as much as regular AutoCad, so it uses up resources. Still, XP Pro is fine.

The issue is LT 2000 on XP.  I can't
find the LT 2000 information, but LT 2002 was not supported on XP of any
flavor.  There may have been a patch, but like running 2006 on Vista, there
may be issues even with work arounds.  Realolddawg may have to get a new
version of LT or find an old version of Windows 2000.

Good call on the version. I was just thinking operating system, kind of inside the box only.
