I downloaded new hatch patterns and I don't know to which folder I am supposed to install them. I have AutoCAD LT 2013.
Custom Hatch patterns/ PAT-extension file rules:
1. File name and hatch pattern name must be one and the same.
2. One hatch pattern per file.
3. there must be a single blank line at the end of the definition in the PAT file. This can be any folder, simply add that folder to the search path using OPTIONS command>Files Tab>Support File Search Path.
4. The PAT file must be in AutoCAD's search path. OPTIONS command>Files Tab>First entry at the top, feel free to add you own if necessary.
5. You then find all of these under the CUSTOM option in HATCH command (or Ribbon).
Yes, Open the appropriate *.pat file, either Imperial (acadlt.pat) or Metric (acadltiso.pat), and scroll to the bottom.
You will see an area to add User Hatches to aid in future migration.
If you want you can even go so far as to move the hatches you use most tot he top of this pattern file and they will show first in the dropdowns and dialogs while in CAD.
Though doing this may cause you issue if you use migration when upgrading versions.
(But it sure does make it easy to scroll to those hatches.)

Thank you for that information.
Will the new hatch patterns display properly in the Ribbon?
I've not had problems with them displaying incorrectly.
