When to choose AutoCAD LT 2009?

How do I determine which users can use AutoCAD LT? What features does the full AutoCAD have that LT does not?

Most of my users use vanilla AutoCAD but we have a few network licenses of Revit Arch Suites which now allow us to use AutoCAD Architecture. I am trying to determine if we should get LT for heavy users who don't need the advanced features of AutoCAD, but first I need to know what features are stripped in LT.

I know my users will need to use sheet set manager and lisps. Are those available in LT?

Guess I answered my own question. Found this comparison chart on a search.

Answers most of my questions. Thanks.

Here is a link that shows each command and system variable that LT does
not include, as compared to AutoCAD -- if you want that much detail.

We are running LT on all our machines now. No one was using the 3D functionality of Acad and we were not using any of the bonus tools we couldn't write in a macro on our own anyway. The only other major component missing is LISP. But, with an add-on program (such as LT Toolkit) you can run LISP in LT and you get a few of those handy bonus tools and full Acad features back. We switched from 2006LT to 2009LT recently and were pleased to find that otrack was included. Hope this helps your decision.

Just a gentle reminder from our legal department about the use of
third-party applications with AutoCAD LT -

As you know, AutoCAD LT software delivers cost-effective access to full
drafting productivity. AutoCAD LT does not, however, permit add-on
applications based on ObjectARX®, LISP, or VBA.

You may have heard about or seen advertisements for applications that claim
to enable functionality such as LISP or 3D commands or that extend AutoCAD
functionality. Use of any such add-on applications or extenders is
specifically prohibited by the AutoCAD LT Software License Agreement.
Furthermore, to the extent such applications require copying of AutoCAD LT
or any portion of its code, they infringe Autodesk's copyright in the
software.

By contrast, applications that customize the user interface (CUI), provide
Diesel macros, provide Dynamic Blocks, or use other documented AutoCAD LT
features and available functionality are within the scope of the License
agreement and are an acceptable use of the product.

To protect AutoCAD LT customers from the risk of unauthorized use of AutoCAD
LT by third-party developers, and to protect its own intellectual property
rights and reputation, Autodesk will take such steps as may be necessary to
stop, prevent and/or impede such unauthorized use.
