What Is AecBase?

I've got some autocad drawings that were created by another firm. When
I first open them up, I get a box that asks me if I'd like to show proxy
graphics, bounding box, or not show the graphics. The bounding box
seems to be a representation of a block - that I can't see. Inside
these boxes are the words AecBase. At first, all these blocks
(generally plumbing fixtures) who up as normal looking fixtures. When I
re-gen, they turn into those boxes again and/or sometimes disappear.
When I try to isolate them on one layer then explode them, many of lines
get messed up. I have many drawings with these types of blocks. Is
there a way I can see/save/use these things or am I going to have
painfully find my own plumbing fixture blocks and insert them?

Many Thanx!

Confirm with the other firm what version of AutoCAD they used (sounds like
ADT), then download the required enabler from http://www.autodesk.com/oe

In LT, set Proxynotice to 0 (zero) and you will not get that prompt anymore.
