Have you tried a repair install of LT on your machine?
Are you having problems with IE at all?

How did that happen? What are you running? What all is on your PC that is running in the background when you did the repair install?

Issue

After a successful installation, you start the program, but one of the following errors occur when the Today window appears:

FATAL ERROR: Unhandled Access Violation ...

- OR -

Internet Explorer Script errors Error: Object doesn't support this property or method.

Solution

You need to use the RepairToday utility to determine if the problem is occurring because one or more of the three required OCX files is incorrectly registered. Note that you will need to manually register any of these OCX files that are incorrectly registered.

To use RepairToday to determine if the OCX files are incorrectly registered:

In Windows Explorer, browse to the Folder where the program is installed and locate the \...\WebDepot\ErrorHandler\ subfolder. Double-click the RepairToday.exe file to run it.
In the RepairToday dialog box, under Repair Strength, leave the Minimal option selected.

Important: Do not choose the Repair button.

Choose Advanced to expand the dialog box, and then choose Check Versions.
Review the information displayed in the text box at the bottom of the RepairToday dialog box. You should see three listings for files, with details similar to the following examples:

GUID: {F281A59C-7B65-11D3-8617-0010830243BD}
ProgID: ACPREVIEW.AcPreviewCtrl.1
File: C:\WINNT\DOWNLO~1\ACPREV~1.OCX
Version: 15.0.5.90

GUID: {78AF2F24-A9C3-11D3-BF8C-0060B0FCC122}
ProgID: ACDCTODAY.AcDcTodayCtrl.1
File: C:\WINNT\DOWNLO~1\ACDCTO~1.OCX
Version: 15.0.5.90

GUID: {C6637286-300D-11D4-AE0A-0010830243BD}
ProgID: INSTAFRED.InstaFredCtrl.1
File: C:\WINNT\DOWNLO~1\InstFred.ocx
Version: 1.0.0.5

If one of these OCX file listings indicates the file is not correctly registered, or the text "Not Found" is returned, then you must register the OCX file manually.

Choose Close to close the RepairToday dialog box.
To manually register the OCX files:

From the Windows Start menu, choose Run.
In the Run dialog box, type the appropriate command string and choose OK to run regsvr32.exe and register the OCX file that was incorrectly registered. Repeat this step for each OCX file the you need to manually register.

For example, you could use the following command strings to run regsvr32.exe three times to manually register all three OCX files:

Important: The file location of the Autodesk program may vary from system to system. In the command string, be sure to replace "C:\Program Files\AutoCAD2000i\" with the path where the program executable file resides, because the OCX files that you need to register are located in the same folder. The program executable file for AutoCAD® software is acad.exe, and for AutoCAD LT® software it's aclt.exe.

REGSVR32 "C:\Program Files\AutoCAD2000i\instfred.ocx"
REGSVR32 "C:\Program Files\AutoCAD2000i\acdctoday.ocx"
REGSVR32 "C:\Program Files\AutoCAD2000i\AcPreview.ocx"
