I have done a level survey and I am wanting to put a scale to it so when I print it out in A4 (or A3) I want to be able to scale directly off it using a ruler. I am unsure how to do this so help needed.
Thanks.

PLOT command has a "what to plot", a "paper size", and 'plot scale" choices: is there a particular problem you'd like help with? or have you not gone there yet? Please elaborate.
All drawing should be at 1:1 in Modelspace
From the Page Setup (right click the Layout tab) choose your paper size and set Plot Scale at 1:1
OK and close this dialog
Create a Viewport on the paper and set the Scale to what you want plotted.
You may need to stretch and pull the viewport to see the drawing in Modelspace.
Once you have the Drawing in the Viewport move the Viewport back to the paper area of the Layout.

Hi,
Thanks for your replies!!
I am changing the paper size to A3 as that is the size i would prefer and trying to use a common scale like 1:100, 1:250, 1:200 however the drawing doesnt seem to be fitting on the page as it keeps zooming in 😞 when I zoom in to make the survey fit the scale changes to a ridiculous one!
please see attachment so you can see what i mean.
Thanks,
K
Thanks for reply Charles,
I used 1:1 for model but in layout (survey) it comes up with an awkward scale for it to fit on an A3 sheet.
Please me my previous message regarding attachment.
Thanks,
K
Your DWG units scale is in inches: did you know that? Very unusual and very 'small scale' for a land survey.
-DWGUNITS command (there is a dash in the name): I've only experienced surveys in FEET or METERS, not inches before.
Hi Dean
I was under the impression they were in meters as I changed them manually in drawing utilities > units.
I have looked again and it still says its in Meters?!
Not sure this is correct but check and see.

Thanks Charles,
It looks a bit lost on an A3 however as long it is eligible I think it will be fine!
What you have done is that set to be printed at A3 and to be scaled at 1:1? I dont have an a3 printer at hand at the minute to check if the scale works. The dimension from gridline K2 - K11 should be 55m.
Really appriciate your help! 🙂
Hi Dean,
I see what you mean about it being in inches 😐 I also didnt know that -DWGUNITS demand to check!
Thanks for checking!!
Did you start from a standard Template or are you creating the drawing from scratch?
Setting Plot Scale at 1:1 gives you a piece of paper in Layout that is actual size.
You had the Plot Scale at 1:20 so everything you create in Layout (Paperspace) would need to be 20 times larger to get a real size plot.

Yeah I started the drawing from scratch.
And it was 1:20 scale because I was testing a few things with it, and was getting frustrated as it wasnt working out.lol
I ideally needed it to be a common scale like 1:100/1:200 but whenever I select them options it doesnt work out to an A3 size drawing
Ive managed to get it printed off and still doesnt scale right printed at A3 scaling at 1:1 😞
the gridline K2-K11 is supposed to measure 55m but once printed is measuring approx 53.25m.
When measuring it in cad using aligned dimension it measure correctly at 55m?!
Do you know a reason as to why?
Thanks,
K
May need to calibrate the plotter with CAD perhaps?
