Relative Angle

I would like to draw a series of line segments where the angle of each is known relative to the angle of the last line segment. I expected the "Polar Angle measurement, Relative to last segment" to do this but I can't make it work. I'm left with mentally accumulating the angles as I draw the segments.

Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong and how to do what I want?

If you want to use POLAR Angle, right-click over the word
POLAR at the bottom of your LT screen, select Settings, make
sure Polar tracking is selected, set the angle to the
smallest you would possible need (5, 10, 25, 45, or 1...),
make sure "track using polar angle settings" and "Relative
to last Segment" are selected on the pop-up.

Following your directions:

The angles I wanted, each referenced to the preceding line segment angle, were: 45, -30, 60, 75, -90, and 120. Using the smallest, 30 degrees didn't do much for the angles not a multiple of 30 degrees. I used the least divisor of these angles, 15 degrees, and that worked better than what I was doing.

I had hoped to simply enter on the command line, assuming all line lengths of 5, the following:
@5<45
@5<-30
@5<60
@5<75
@5<-90
@5<120

This would have been far simpler than finding the least divisor of all and using that.

Am I still missing something?

P.S. Thanks for the speedy reply.

Perhaps you should see what your DYNPICOORDS is set to,
relative is what it needs to be. Also look up DYNPIFORMAT,
DYNPIVIS and DYNMODE variables. Initial settings may be all
you need.

I have created a command and trying to get Autodesk to buy it it draws lines and the relative to last segment is 0 (not 180)and you can change the direction of the angles clock or counter clock so you do not have to do all that math

Autodesk Exchange Apps Store is open to 3rd party vendors selling quality add-ons for autodesk products: try it. They do test and validate all apps first so be prepared.
