Problem saving file

AUTOCAD saves a dwg in the autosave folder as a .BAK. When we rename it to a .DWG to try to use it AUTOCAD ignores it and opens a new dwg. We have the file extensions on. This only happens on one machine. If we try to open the .dwg on another machine it opens fine. We are using AUTOCAD 12LT. Does anyone have any idea how to correct it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

When AutoCAD ignores it, it usually means it did not find it or could not open it for some reason: try starting AutoCAD first, then using RECOVER to OPEN commands to seek out the file to open.
