Open File Dialogue box to be at last open File

I am running AutoCAD LT 2006

When I select file open I want the dialogue box to automatically go to the last file/folder opened.
My programme used to do this but now does not. I can't find where the settings for this option are

REMEMBERFOLDERS variable, explained in Help. Restart LT afterwards.

I have checked the REMEMBERFOLDER setting and it was already set to open the dialogue box at the last folder. However, the dialogue box is at the start of the folder. In larger folders this can then take some time to scroll to the file required.

My LT used to open the dialogue at the last opened or saved FILE thus negating the need to scroll through to this same location.
Is there a way of setting this option?

Two different problems... .

If you turned on 'hide file extension' in Windows Explorer, the OPEN feature
does not work (AutoCAD searches for file extensions).
