Multiple Crashes in AutoCAD LT 2013 SP2 and Windows 8

I have a single user of AutoCAD LT 2013 SP2 on a Windows 8 machine. It worked flawlessly for a few months and then suddenly started crashing a lot, especially when accessing the FILE menu.

We get a lot of these:

The program acadlt.exe version 25.0.55.0 stopped interacting with Windows and was closed. To see if more information about the problem is available, check the problem history in the Action Center control panel.

Process ID: b88

Start Time: 01ce91ca4c44379a

Termination Time: 60000

Application Path: C:\Program Files\Autodesk\AutoCAD LT 2013\acadlt.exe

Report Id: 02e9f9ca-fe01-11e2-be80-a41f72527795

Faulting package full name:

 Faulting package-relative application ID:

I put him in Windows 7 compatability mode and the rest of the day yesterday was good. Today, he sent me this error:

AutoCAD LT Error Aborting
FATAL ERROR: Unhandled Access Violation Reading 0x8ca0 Exception at 250f29f7h

The only changes since these started was a new wireless mouse (Microsoft) and loading Adobe Acrobat Standard (latest version) on the machine. We did both of those a few weeks ago and the problems have started after that.

We run a very tight ship and time is money here...any suggestions?

Windows .NET updates perhaps?

Or any Windows automatic updates fro the matter.

Tried a System Restore to a couple weeks, a month ago?

You aholuld not have done that without checking first if this PC is for work, big mistake: Win8.1 is a problem right now.

Some users report getting update video cards help, others report complete removal of all things Autodesk from the PC and Windows Registry and reinstalling helps, and others could only fix it by backing up their files then trformatting the harddrive to reinstall Win8.0 as the only fix.

Good luck.

I eventually downgraded the user to Windows 7 and it worked. We've moved on to AutoCAD LT 2014 for new installs.
