Macro: Rename Layout

I'd like to write a macro that automatically renames the first layout to that of the drawing name. Can anybody give me some advice. I'm using AC2008 LT.
Regards,

LAYOUT is the command: explore by typing it at the command line, see how it
works for you. Post back limitations you can identify in many of your files:
macros work best when all facts are known.

I know that I can type in DWGNAME in command line and it gives me the dwg name. How can I copy that text, and use it to rename the layout? Can the length also be edited, for example if I want to delete the extension .DWG?
Thanks...

No, it cannot be edited.

$M=$(getvar, dwgname) when prompted for a name should work if the option was
built into AutoCAD.
