LT2000i-Copy from existing dwg. and Paste to new dwg.

When I highlight area to copy from an existing drawing and paste it to a new one, Command line asks for insertion pt. I left click mouse to insert. Command line goes blank and cursor returns to "pick" orientation. During this operation I hear the hard drive working but nothing appears on the new drawing. I have both open and am using minimize and maximize windows. I should think this should be a pretty straightforward operation. Go figure!

Does typing COPYCLIP and PASTECLIP in AutoCAD LT 2000i make
any difference in the behavior?

Once you've pasted into the new drawing, try zooming to extents and see
if anything is there. Sometimes ACAD will use a weird insertion point
on the copied file.

Also think about the relative size of things, were either of the drawings scaled? I had one once where I finally found the thing, but it was the size of a pin head.
