We have LT 2006 and have a question about rights required to run the software.
I have noted KB articles such as this: http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/ps/item?siteID=123112&id=2881143&linkID=2475874 which detail issues with HKLM and the Registry. I have also noted an article which claims that LT 2006 should run with standard user rights.
First registration appears to be a specific issue, where local admin rights are required in order for the logged in user (not necessarily using the account that installed the software) to run the software for the first time.
Even when registered, users without local admin rights cannot run the software. Power Users group is not used within our environment and from a security perspective is not much better than running with local admin rights.
What I am after is list of file rights/Registry rights requirements that the software has (specifically, where 'write' rights are required in either specific Registry hives/settings and/or files and/or directories.)
This will help us to repackage the installer with the correct permissions to install and first register the product using an SMS installation account and subsequently run as an LUA (Least Privileged User Account.)
Does anyone have access to the information we need or know of links where such information is posted, please?
Alternatively, has anyone managed to achieve what would appear to be the 'Holy Grail' in terms of running AutoCAD LT 'without' local admin rights and if so how(!)?
