INTERNAL ERROR: GEDIT 3.

Hi,
I don't think somebody allready mentioned
an INTERNAL ERROR: GEDIT 3.
'caus after 2 min (every time) drawings
crash, not funny.
Yesterday I disabled Windows file protection...
But I enabled it again, no change...
LT2002, PII-500Mhz, 256MbRAM, Voodoo Banshee,
Never expirienced any immaterial bugs before
for about 10 months now...
Maybe the DumpEntrie in acltstk.dmp will help
to solve this.
I would appriciate any fast responce very much
Jeroen

Hi,

from Autodesk Knowledgebase:
Issue

When you execute a command in AutoCAD LT® 2002 software, the following
error message is displayed:

      GEDIT 3

Solution

This error can occur for the following reasons:

a.. Out of date Iomega Zip® drivers. Ensure you have the latest
Iomega Zip drivers (V3.1+)
b.. Intel® LANDesk® Client Manager. The only work-around is to
remove this software to test compatibility.
c.. Unisysn AutoMateT 4 software. The only work-around is to remove
this software completely and test compatibility.
d.. TEGAM ViGUARD 2002. The only work-around is to disable the
anti-spyware and Internet traffic monitoring option.
If the error still occurs, try uninstalling any third-party software
in conjunction with AutoCAD LT 2002, and also try starting Windows® in safe
mode to see if any other software that runs at startup is causing a
conflict.

and:
Issue

The following error occurs during several nested transparent zooms:

ACAD ERROR ABORT - INTERNAL ERROR: GEDIT 3

      ERROR HANDLER RE-ENTERED EXITING NOW.
      Internal error: gedit 3

The program then unexpectedly shuts down and prompts you to save your
drawing.

Solution

If you complete each ZOOM command before starting another zoom, this
error should not recur. However, if the error does recur, save the drawing
when prompted. Then, the next time you open the drawing, allow the program
to recover it.

Jeroen, try the suggestions at the link below for TS67212. If that
doesn't resolve your error, and you have AutoCAD LT 2002, perhaps the
upcoming Service Pack 2 will resolve it. If THAT doesn't resolve it, you
may have a virus on your PC that is causing it. We have found 4 or 5
cases lately where that turns out to be the cause.

If you have not checked lately, you can sweep your system for a virus
from the link on this page: http://security1.norton.com

I'll send the Service Pack 2 directly to you by separate email.

Error: GEDIT 3

Where can I get a copy of this Service Pack 2 repair. Has anyone had any comments reguarding Windows NT and the GEDIT 3 error problem. We are having GEDIT and slow zoom / pan problems with LT 2002 and all machines running NT. We have tried all the suggestions that Autodesk has recommended to no avail.

Why not put it back in Beta, or Release it, so users can access it without
this happening?

There is no SP2... .

Google GEDIT3, it is a conflict on your system with another app, it may or
may not get resolved, only real 100% fix is to move away from LT2002.

Do you have any Norton products installed?

What other applications are installed new that were not installed previously? A full list would be helpful.

GEDIT3 errors are all about conflicts with other software: not easy to find but since this is only a new hD installation, you should be able to identify more easily.

That was it, Nortons. Had to put a program exception in Nortons.

Thank you

I recently replaced the hardrive.  The tech installed Norton360.  Problems persisted until I removed Norton completely and reinstalled McAfee.  I now remember that Norton was a problem in the past.  It does not like ACAD.lt.  Do yourself a favour, dump Norton.  Norton suggested that I turn off the firewall and security and try to use ACAD.  Temporarily turning off Norton was NOT enough.

Hope this helps.

It worked for me.

There is no SP2 for LT 2002: you are reading a typo most likely.

I think you missed the solution gedit 3 is a software conflict, usually antivirus

LT2002 was snake-bitten: it needs to be buried somewhere and forgotten.

Never had too many problems with LT 2002, used it until clients wanted all .dwgs in minimum 2010 format. It was the versions between LT 2002 including LT2009 that were troublesome, hence us staying with LT 2002 for 8 years
