How do you insert other file format images into AutoCad LT 2008?

Does anyone know any tricks on inserting a jpeg, raster image, pdf, or tiff into AutoCad LT 2008?

Windows classic copy/paste from one app into LT, if you remember to select
all in the first application before you PASTESPEC in LT.

Or print those to DWF and Reference into your file(s).
Free DWF printer Driver for Windows posted at Autodesk's website.

If Dean's solution doesn't do it for you, I bought Slingshot Max from drcauto.com, has some handy add-on tools.

You just notified the world that you are violating
your LT license agreement, which says:

"
face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">3.2 Prohibited Actions.
...

face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">

any equipment, device, software or other means designed to circumvent or remove
any usage restrictions, or to enable functionality disabled by Autodesk in
connection with the Excluded Materials. You may not bypass or delete any
functionality or technical limitations of the Autodesk Materials that prevent or
inhibit the unauthorized copying or use of the Excluded
Materials."

I was not aware that that condition existed. Why would the company itself not be prosecuted for offering the software?

Not in LT2008, only in LT2009.

Technically they don't have a contract with Autodesk and aren't actually
violating copyright since they aren't sending you a copy of the missing
software, but are creating a completely independently developed program
that gives you features that breaks your license agreement.

Not completely true. While third party software is easier, you can go
to any graphic file on your computer, copy it to the clipboard and then
in Autocad lt2008, "Edit", "Paste Special" and you will paste a
bitmapped graphic version of the file into your drawing. I do it all
the time with photos of existing buildings and add notes about
remodeling and I do it with aerial photos.

You can scale it by using the handles in the corner. You can't rotate
it, so you have to set up the correct view using some form of picture or
graphic editing software.

The same technique works for spreadsheets and for text files.

Re-Read rozaj2002's post, the one I replied to specifically, not the thread
topic.

There is a structure to replies around here, a little hard to decipher with
the new look if that is where you are.

I prepare the photo just the way I want it with a small photo edit program - make it B & W, crop, rotate, etc. Then I open WORD and insert it. From there I copy it, then paste in AutoCAD lt 2008. I've spent hours trying to get something to work, and had problems trying to copy/paste directly from a graphics program, but first into WORD seems to work. (no clue why). I keep photos as .jpg. Can't get a map from Mapquest to work, however. I think it's blocked by the map people to copy it. I have to print it, scan it, then as above.

Another way:

MS Paint

Open *.jpg

Rotate as needed

Edit - Select All - Copy

LT

PASTESPEC

Picture (Metafile)

OK

Insert Point

Scale as needed

In 2007LT I just do Insert > OLE Object > Create from File > Select the image and there it is...
Or am I missing something?
