We have a 2013 file that is over 22MB!!!! We have purged it and there are no filter layers to delete!
Any other advise or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Thaw/turn on all layers in modelspace, Zoom Extents, select everything on screen then invoke WBLOCK command to create a new file from your selection: that's about as small as that file will get. The rest of the size is all about your file's content.
And yes, Layouts and their content are left behind.
And if you are using a lot of Dynamic Blocks that may be what you get; a big file.
