FATAL ERROR: Unhandled c0000409h: Exception at dcf51030h

I have just recently started to have a problem when opening files with xref'd aerials it gives the error:

FATAL ERROR: Unhandled c0000409h: Exception at dcf51030h

and closes the program.

Any help would be appreciated!

Running:

Windows 7

AutoCAD 2013 LT

I7 720QM processor

4 gigs of ram

NVidia Geoforce GTS 360M 1 gb

Additional notes:

I also have a working license for AutoCAD 2012 LT on my machine and it is seemingly handling the same files that causes AutoCAD 2013 LT to crash.

Open the Files with RECOVER instead of open in LT 2013.

or

Try detaching the XREF using the LT 2012 seat and then reopening the File in the 2013 seat.

Reattach the XREF's

Any better?

These files are coming from my CAD station in the office which has a seat of 2013 Civil 3d.  He is attaching all imagines, etc.  If he detaches all of the xrefs (or if I detach in 2012) I can open with my seat in 2013 LT fine.

We have tested this across multiple files with no success.  This just popped up today.

Have you looked at what has changed on the Computer since presumably yesterday?

Windows update? Registry Cleaner? Anti-Virus? Program added?

If ti was good yesterday and not today that usually indicates some change on the Computer has been made.

Or something with the Civil3D Aerials changed... .

Charles makes a good point. If it did work in the past, you might consider a system restore back to when it worked.  It's possible a Windows update to your .NET Framework or other prerequisite could have occurred and caused this issue.

You might also consider a repair install of 2013.

I have:

  • Run the Autodesk Repair tool for 2013 LT
  • Repaired the .net framework 4.0
  • Used the .net framework removal tool
  • Reinstalled the .net framework 4.0 client

So far, no change in the error.

Any further troubleshooting would be welcome.

Oh and I uninstall and reinstalled AutoCAD 2013LT

Did you clean out the Windows Registry of all Autodesk references when you uninstalled LT (and use a Windows Registry Cleaner to boot)? That's the best way to uninstall any program: restarting Windows then reinstalling is required afterwards.

Are you on a laptop? Turn off Win7's AERO Theme (and use Windows Basic theme): looks like WindowsXP and seems to help those with laptops the most.

I did not clean registry values.  I was not aware that removing the program wouldn't remove registry values.  Could you provide some information on how to do this without screwing up my OS?

I am on a laptop, but not an underpowered one.  I should have no problem running the aero theme, but I will try it as my options for troubleshooting seem to be running out.

This is old but still applcable with the corrected version numbers, Autodesk recommended uninstall and reinstall procedures:
http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/ps/dl/item?siteID=123112&id=10243968&linkID=9240617

Also change LT2013's Hardware Acceleration setting from whatever you have currently, see if that helps.

Just an update:  I changed to a non-aero theme and the error changed to:

FATAL ERROR: Unahandled c0000409h Exception at e2b91030h

Are you running a certified video card driver on a supported card?

Hi,

I want to refresh this case.

I have this kind of problem when I try to print sth from AutoCAD 2007 and AC 2008 on another machine.

I always get this kind of communicate:

FATAL ERROR: Unhandled c0000409h Exception at 3300e012h - AC 2007

FATAL ERROR: Unhandled c0000409h Exception at 675ddaf2h - AC 2008

Do you have any idea what can be a solution?

The error messages mean little, sorry.

What changed recently on the PCs where the two versions are installed: new drivers for the printers, new printers, new server where the printers are accessed? New Windows or new PCs? Please try and find out what changed and report it.

I'm not sure that you understand me correctly.

I have AutoCAD 2007 since 5 years on one computer and AC 2008 on another computer.

Previous all was ok. Now I have this kind of problem.

Windows updates?

.NET updates?

Look at the System Restore log and see if something has been updated on your system.

As has been asked: What changed?

It worked for five years so why not now?
