Educational Stamp

Hi.

I just purchased an ACAD LT 2010 copy from Autodesk through Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/Autodesk-057B1-05A001-P101A-AutoCAD-LT-2010/dp/B001UO8M8M/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=software&qid=1238685785&sr=8-1). The PartNo. is 057B1-41A111-1001. It was supposed to be a complete version. (http://www.provantage.com/autodesk-057b1-41a111-1001~4GRIC1FT.htm) However, as soon as I run the software it shows the SV Stamp. I'm not opening any file, and I was aware of the Student version before I purchased this copy, so please don't bug me with piracy, illegal copy, whatever. I spend $900 and this copy is not what I intended. Unfortunately, there's neither phone nor contact info in Autodesk website and contacting the reseller is an impossible mission. Is there anything I can do before I cancel the purchase?

Thanks in advance.

In addition to the Amazon route noted above, contact your credit card and
dispute the purchase. That will get Amazon's attention PDQ, merchants pay
attention most to that... .

What's the return policy? On one of those things I saw "standard 30 day return". Also, I am sure there is somewhere you can write a negative review of the seller and their misleading tactics. I also believe autodesk would be interested in hearing from you, since educational versions are normally free to students! Their contact info is all over this website....
I hope my info was useful, but if by some odd chance it actually solved your issue, feel free to mark your post as "Accept as Solution". Thanks! 🙂

I think that the problem is Autodesk who doesn't label their products properly. I mean, how can you identify a product from a serie of numbers and letters included in the part number. That's very technical stuff. Shouldn't be easier if AD label their products accordingly? I guess AD has plenty of money to afford it. If you go to any reseller website, the product description only says "AutoCAD LT 2010," and some of them include the part number. However, few of them specifies what version the product is. That doesn't sound to me as good intended.

I don't know, a quick Google of Student Version AutoCAD found it a several sites for around $150. This is what I would expect.
The link you showed is just how I would expect a full seat of LT to be priced and marketed. It would seam that the vendor at the other end of that transaction either has faulty information or is misrepresenting the item.
Either way you need to do as suggested here and be reimbursed. Autodesk has nothing to do with this transaction.

Amazon is the reseller here: whining about the manufacturer is silly when
you bought it from someone else.

If your license is valid, simply downloading the trial version from Autodesk
and authorizing it is another solution: again, you bought the license from
someone else, so if it does not work your problem (and fix) is with your
reseller.

...although, the SLM after it and especially the two different LAB versions of SLM (5 seat and 10 seat) might have been a red flag right there....

Actually the SLM just means Single License Manager, but still the LAB versions may have been a red flag...

I just downloaded and installed the trial version from AD website. The description is shown below,

MID: ACLT_2010_32bit_SWL_EN_D055_EXE1
Product Name: AutoCAD LT 2010
Platform: Windows XP/Vista
Media: ESD
Part Number: 057B1-05Z001-P501E

I also use 000-0000000 as Serial Number. However, as soon as I run the ACAD, it shows the Student Version Stamp. So, as you may see, the problem persists. Is there something wrong with my computer? I have no other ACAD versions installed in my PC, and no files has been opened.

Thanks for your help.

So you bought a brand new PC too?
or simply uninstall the student version from your original post, which does
nothing to fix the problem?
