Since updating a drawing last week and saving it in paper space, I can no longer get back into model space without the drawing crashing.
Any ideas how I can get back into model space and do some work?
Welcome to the Forums
Audit the drawing. Go to FILE, then DRAWING UTILITIES, and click on AUDIT. Say yes to automatically repair errors and see if that helps

Thanks for the welcome.
I ran the audit but it still hangs going back to model. It runs through the percentage complete bar but hangs thereafter.
What next?
Is it just this single drawing doing it, or do other drawings do it as well?
If other drawings do it as well it could be an Autocad problem. If it is an Autocad problem you can try a repair install.
EDIT: You can also try a RECOVER on that drawing as well. The option is in the same area as AUDIT

Have you tried running the recover on this drawing?

I ran recover and it went through the whole process, found no bad entities and then crashed when I tried to go into model.
I can move between paper space sheets OK though.
I saved it back a few versions and it still hangs when I hit model?
Is it Saved as the Model when first opened or in Paperspace?
WBLOCK if this opens in Modelspace or as Dean said open a new clean drawing, INSERT this one, and EXPLODE.
Then run AUDIT on the file.

I just left it over lunch time and when I came back to it lo and behold it was in model space. So just very very slow.
I have taken out some stuff but not greatly reduced the file size (6.8MB to 5.2MB) and it appears to switch between paper and model OK now.
Thanks for your help anyway, I didn't know about the audit command before.
5.2MB still sounds like a huge file.
At the command line type in PURGE
Now click on PURGE ALL
Now click on PURGE ALL ITEMS.
And flnally click on CLOSE.
This will get rid of any items which aren't used in your drawng.
Save the file and recheck what size it is.
