Automatic saves

Please help

I have just installed Acad 2000 LT on to a new machine. the machine has now been running for a week with no problems except it does not autosave. I have set the autosave for every 10 mins within the options/open & save tab and even changed the file location in options/files tab, is there anything else i can try.

Cheers

Lee

The autosave actually doesnt save your dwg file. It creates a file with a ac$ extension. Its usually used for backup purposes, but it can be used by renaming the ac$ to dwg. I would suggest looking it up in ACLT help for a more detailed explanation.
Hope that helps, if not let us know in more detail what your exact problem is.

Taken directly from ACLT help files...

Issue

The automatic save file, nameed auto.sv$, is missing.

Solution

In prior versions of the software, the default name of the automatic save file is auto.sv$. This file name is no longer used; the naming convention for the automatic save file is now .sv$.

To locate automatic save files, use the Find Files option in Windows® Explorer to search for files that have a .sv$ file name extension.

If that doesn't work then try typing "savefilepath". That should return the path name where all your Autosave files are going.

Kind regards,

Learn to se QSAVE, and turn BAK file creation on in OPTIONS command,
AutoSAVE is only there as a last resort if your system crashes and you need
to recover a file. Then you look for SV$ extension files wherever you have
them set to, rename the extension to DWG, and you hopefully get your file
back.

It is never a good idea to just be a patsy and rely on a Windows machine and
AutoCAD to save files for you. Take control, use SAVE.

IMPORTANT: set ISAVEPERCENT to 0 (zero). Also install all patches for
LT2000, especially the PLOTUPDATE patch.
