I don't have any problems with native drawings. If I export a file from Terramodel then open it in Autocad and save it as an Autocad file. Why doesn't AutoCad make this a native file?

I am having problems on both computers with non native drawings. Also this problem never happened with Win XP

Response from Terramodel

By default Terramodel exports DWG as AutoCAD 2000 format. You can select to go back as far as R10. In general, the older the DWG format the less complex the DWG file and the less likely AutoCAD is to have trouble (unless you get to even older versions that Autodesk no longer support - they pretend no one uses them anymore).

In recent versions Autodesk has added a “Trusted DWG” tag so it can tell if it was created in some other application. Terramodel, of course, does not have that tag and will write the DWG differently. As you say, opening and saving in AutoCAD should make it ‘Trusted” (native). If you then import that Trusted DWG into AutoCAD and you still have the problem, it’s no longer a problem with Terramodel; it’s a problem with AutoCAD

The file can be opened and can be saved in Autocad. Can i send one of the autocad files to someone to have a look at. I think it might be too large for this forum as it is about 10mb.

Do you try and fix the files? AUDIT, RECOVER, WBLOCK, PURGE, -PURGE are a few of the ways.

www.wikisend.com for a method to share large files here or with anyone, explore it and similar sites.

I found a small file that does the errors in just a few clicks. I first opened the file then changed 2 lines of text then save. It crashed. The file is attached

Is the AutoCAD LT 2010 Update 2 installed?

When I tried your drawing I got a crash that indicated I needed Update 2. I installed AutoCAD LT so I can test your drawing and had not installed anything more.

As Terramodel uses a third party librtary to write .dwg files Autodesk cannot guarantee the application compatibility or integrity of this file. You might try using the .dxf format to import and export this drawing with AutoCAD LT or use the .dxf format to export from Terramodel.

The problem is that this has only just started once i built the new computers. The files that i am having the errors with, did not play up before on my old PC, The old Pc ran windows XP, with Autocad 2010lt. so i thought that it might be a compatibilty problem with Win 7.

I have noticed that this happens almost every time I hit the close icon for the file that is open.

Today, I got the same problem with Acad LT 2005. I'm running win7pro on  64bit.

Whenever I try to save, I get the same error: stackHash_e8ad...etc.

I've tried updating GPU drivers, reinstalled Acad and nothing seems to work.

Has anyone been able to fix this?

Thanks

>>>...Today, I got the same problem...<<<

Fix it by restoring windows back to yesterday or last week when it all worked: Windows System Restore is free and built into all modern versions of Windows.

If it worked for a long time then stopped one day, you changed something: 'you' being you in person or your PC/Windows default free-to-do-as-it-wants settings you have allowed.
