AutoCAD to Microstation conversion issues

I am running LT 2012 & export to a dgn file for Microstation.  Everything has been going fine until all of a sudden when I view the MS file with a MS viewer, the whole screen is black with nothing else on it.  Any ideas of what could be causing this problem?

I already tried binding the xrefs in the dwg & exporting it then - didn't work.

I tried saveas a .dxf then exporting to a .dgn - didn't work.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

Honestly, Microstation does a better job of importing DWG files that AutoCAD does exporting DGN files.

How familiar are you with Microstation? And have you used this process before with any success?

That's what I've heard but we have been contracted to supply the client with MS files (which I am not familiar with).

We have been using ACad to export the files to a v8 .dgn.  I just downloaded a free viewer after the client said there was nothing on some of the files.  They look like black screens when I look at them on the viewer.  One drawing did successfully export before but when we try & export it now, I get the black screen.
