AutoCAD LT vs. AutoCAD

Question: Can I assume that where AutoCAD LT and AutoCAD overlap, they are the same program with the same commands, etc.? The reason I ask is I've just installed AutoCAD LT on my computer and I'm out researching books to help me learn the program. The books are quite expensive but I can buy them at less than half price from street sellers here in New York where I live. But the sellers have a much greater variety of AutoCAD stuff than they do AutoCAD LT. I'm assuming I can just ignore those parts of the books that cover areas that don't pertain to AutoCAD LT.
Am I right about this?

As long as you're not a complete beginner, I think you can get by with this.

With every other release or so, I buy the "Mastering AutoCAD" book from
Sybex. It's pretty easy to just disregard what's missing in LT (though I buy
the regular AutoCAD book to keep up with the changes and differences).

It's been a long time since I've used the book as a step-by-step tutorial so
I'm not sure if you'd get tripped up often. I wouldn't think so.
