AutoCAD LT 2013 (Mac) - Chinese Character Issues

Hi everybody,

First time user here - hopefully I can get a resolution as it's been bugging for a while..

In AutoCad LT 2013 (running latest updates, and since the last 2 revisions as well) there is an issue with Chinese Character input periodically. When adding text in Chinese, generally the keyboard will display correctly like my first screenshot - after a while the Chinese Character input will change and no results will be given (second screenshot).

Has anybody ever come across this before?! Machine is running 10.8 (latest), and I believe it also occured in 10.7.

Regards & thanks in advance.

Welcome to the Autodesk Forums!

Hi,

I can not say you anyting about Chinese Characters in AutoCAD as I don't know how to use them.

But let's check the general settings.

What font do you use in the Text Style? Could you use this font in other applications on your Mac?

Have you checked text height in Text Styke settings?

Are you using DTEXT or MTEXT command to create text in your drawing? Have you tried both?

After you finish and confirm input - does text object is created in drawing?

Maxim,

Kind thanks for your reply! I am not the user directly, I provide the IT support for the company and do not specialise in AutoCAD - so please forgive my vague understanding of how things work..

I've been in discussion with the user and the feedback to your queries is:

Firstly, the text style changes from English (U.S.) to Sucheng (Traditional Chinese) at the upper right-hand corner of users' monitor. Text input is through Chinese character multi-line text space (MTEXT) or the single-line text space of AutoCAD, as well as selecting the Chinese character from the selection menu. Finally, the height of font need to be adjusted in order to match the printing scale - so it can be variable..

Finally, the Chinese characters appear correctly on the AutoCAD drawing if no typing problem is observed, aka - it's "temperamental".

Does this help at all? If not, am happy to troubleshoot some more.

Thanks all!

推崇的 DoFoT9,

I re-read your first message and finally was able to reproduce the issue you described in it.

It appears, that in some case AutoCAD LT breaks normal behavior of Chinese Input module in Mac OS.

The steps to reproduce your issue is really simple:

1. Enable Chinese input in Mac OS System preferences

2. Start AutoCAD

3. If I use MTEXT command to create text with Chinese characters, everything works fine.

4. It I start DTEXT (single-line text) command and trying to type using default Standard Text Style, I get rectangular instead of Chinese symbols and I don't get input window from which I should select right hieroglyph (at the moment when I hit Return to select it after I type first letters)

5. From this moment I'm not able to use this input window (which appears blank from this moment) and not only in AutoCAD, but in all places where I can input text in Mac OS - TextEdit, Spotlight search, etc.

6. In order to return back functionality of input window I have to restart my Mac, or Log out - Log in.

So it appears that using DTEXT command with Chinese input breaks Chinese input service on Mac OS.

Maxim
