AutoCAD LT 2008 - Multiple Drawings Opening Multiple Instances

A user recently complained that when she opens multiple drawings by double-clicking them in Windows Explorer, that multiple instances of her licensed version AutoCAD LT 2008 open instead of just opening the drawing in the existing, opened window of AutoCAD LT 2008 (when one or more drawings are already open.)

I found that AutoDesk had a Service Pack (SP1), available which (amongst other things), addressed this very issue. I downloaded, installed and re-booted the users' PC, and verified that SP1 was in fact installed -- but still multiple instances of AutoCAD LT 2008 open (as evidence shows in the taskbar), when opening multiple drawings from Windows Explorer.

Has anyone out there come across this? Is there a registry hack or a setting within the application that I could possibly apply to correct this issue?

Any and all help would be appreciated.

Are you sure it's multiple AutoCAD sessions or just multiple buttons? If
TASKBAR value is 1, you'll see multiple buttons.

From another post, if Bob's is not it:

Re: Open files from windows
try this in Windows Explorer, Tools, Folder Options, File Types, pick DWG,
select Advanced, highlight Open, pick Edit, Check Use DDE, in the DDE
Message type in
open("%1")

an update:

I had the same issue with 2k8 and i tried your solution, Dean. What i had encountered was that when I selected the DWG file type, there was no "Advanced" button, only a "Restore". Apparently something had modified the settings (I'm guessing one of Autodesk's utilities or DWF viewers). So anyway, I hit Restore and the Restore button became an Advanced button. I went in and set the "Open" value to

open("%1")

and that made all dwg's open into one file! (Maybe I was just supposed to enter

("%1")

but who knows? Anyway, I just went back in and deleted that value (so that the open value was left blank) and that worked.
