AutoCAD 2012 LT shuts off

2012 LT about a year old, just recently started shutting off/closing unexpectedly during a drawing command (pline, copy, offset etc...) or when using numeric keys on keyboard.  seems like everything else works ok.  no error messages.  nothing. just dissapears.  gone.

any ideas?

nothing changed on PC recently.  PC itself is just a year old (same as 2012 LT)  its not a heavily used machine or software

havent tried a windows  system restore, have however kept up with all windows updates

very very frustrating, have clients waiting for work to be done and cant get it done

The Windows updates could be the culprit.

.NET updates, at least for me, wreak havoc from time to time. You may be seeing the results of one after coming back to the machine from some time a while ago.

The Restore may work but you would need to go back to prior to the last time your CAD worked properly.

If not a Repair Install may fix you up.

The next fixes are more drastic.

software have no moving parts thatn suddenly break all on their own: it just doesn't work like that, sorry.
Something changed: whether you acvtively know it or not (Windows updates, vid card refresh, updated driver, downgraded driver, a setting change, the wrong upgrade, a trial software you forgot to remove) something was introduced that changed the system that broke the software.

Windows System Restore puts things back to what they were when it all worked well last. Usually. If you go back far enough.

Doing nothing will never fix it. Waiting for some sort of Autodesk patch is hopeful at best. Start trying to put things back, easiest then hardest then the most intrusive are your options. Start with the easiest as I suggested.

Good luck.

hopefully WIndows gave you a list of what was added/changed so that you can stop them from being added: take the time to stop Windows Updates from automatically taking place without your review, approval, and tracking purposes too.
