Alert - dwg is currently in use

I have been trying to open .dwg files on our network. AutoCad is alerting me that the .dwg file is currently in use. In reality; however, the file is not being used by anyone. It gives me the option of opening the file read-only. After I select that option, it tells me that access is denied. Unable to open drawing.

I have attached a Paint file showing the messages.

Any help would be appreciated.

Is there a DWT or DWT2 file in the same folder?
Did you go over to the other fellow's PC and disconnect them from the
network and try again?
