3Dconnexion Hotfix

Hi,

Im running AutoCAD LT 2013 and found the Hotfix for the 3Dconnexion devices that fixes the zoomspeed etc.

But as soon as I install the hotfix I have no motion with my device. The driver is running, other applications work fine.

I came to the idea that I need the "Navigation Bar" - thats the case in AutoCAD, but it wont open.

Someone any ideas?

Thanks

Oliver

Did you follow the installation instructions to the letter?

http://images.autodesk.com/adsk/files/Autodesk_3Dconnexion_Hotfix_Readme.pdf

Does uninstalling th hotfix as outlined in the document above fix the problem?

Yes I did. I already know that hotfix from AutoCAD 2013 and there I dont have any problems.

And yes,

when I delete the hotfix acvmtools.crx and rename the orginal one to its original name it works again

Did you also install SP1.1 patch for LT2013 before making this change? It's also a requirement.

Otherwise, it sounds like you need to report this problem to Autodesk for a fix. Unless they have already posted a fix for it (which I did not find).

Hi,

thanks for the help so far.

The service pack was installed before the hotfix, yes.

I will contact the Autodesk support.

Thanks,

Oliver

Hi,

This is a known issue with AutoCAD LT 2013, the development team has been made aware of it and they are working on a fix.

I have the same problem with 3DMouse in AutoCAD LT 2013. I have a question: How long J must to wait for the new 3Dconnexion Hotfix I finally want to use and work with my 3DMouse!

I have exactly the same problem and tried the same thing without remedy.  I wondered if the 3Dconnexion beta 10 driver might help, but haven't tried it yet.  Has anyone found any remedy?

p.s. 3Dconnexion suggested I do a clean up an reinstall: http://www.3dconnexion.de/index.php?id=200&faq_red=faq/28

And then contact Autodesk - haven't done that before, has anyone already contacted them?

Thanks.

Graham

Look above your post at a reply from Volker, an Autodesk staffer: the question was answered (there is no current fix).

So what, I shouldn't ask?  Yes, back in February Volker said they're working on it, who is to say this thread will be updated when they fix it, maybe others already found out how to fix it.  It wouldn't be the first time - previously I had trouble getting the space navigator to work at all in Autocad, contacted3dX tech support, they didn't solve it nor did I find any clues on message boards, eventually I found a solution for myself.

No, you can always ask, but specifically to Volker since what you want does not exist as was stated. Not post all over these forums pretending Volker's reply does not exist.

SP 2.0 fixed my issues with my 3D connexxion space pilot pro working in ACAD LT 2013.  However, ACD LT does not show up in the program inteface on the 3D mouse.  I did a simple work around by programming macros in the 3D mouse and get acceptable pefromance.  Since AutoCAD took over witing the interface for the 3D devices they do not work very well.  I am sure in time they will get better.

Good for you, I returned mine for a full refund.  Now its almost working, do you think its worth the money and effort?

I would not purchase a space pilot pro to use with AutoCAD LT. It does help with some productivity but the hassle of AutoCAD not really supporting all of the features, this is not 3D Connexion's fault, my understanding is that AutoCAD deceided to take charge of writing their interface. That worked well didn't it.

Can't say I am much of an AutoCAD fan since I started using SolidWorks about 5 years ago. I think AutoCAD in its base form will always have a use for simple plan view and elevation drawings and the thousands of Architects that use it. Any mechanical design, machinery, complex plumbing, and electrical. You can do it in SolidWorks in less than half the time. The best part about a parametric modeling program is that changes are easy and in SolidWorks they cascade update. Change one part all of them are changed, if you want.

I think a 3D mouse is an extremely useful tool in a 3D program. In 2D it mostly makes the other people in the office go, "Wow, what's that?"

garypyles:

I also have a space pilot pro , and install SP2, but it still did'nt work in autocad LT2103. Did I lost some thing ? did you have any suggestion?

I have been considering getting a space navigator or spacepilot pro for using with sketchup and autocad (I know...!) and probably chief architect and revit in future.  I'm wondering if they actually work with any of these programs, last time i bought one i returned it as it was useless in autocad.  Anyone know if things are better these days?

I just spent an hour on the phone with 3DConnexion describing how useless my space navigator has become within Autodesk products.  Before integrating the spacemouse menu into the NavBar, there was a separate menu or CUI that installed a toolbar that worked flawlessly.  I could select a new pivot point for the model and rotate in 3D space to my hearts content.

I don't have any functionality now and usually push what used to be my second right arm off the side.  I have installed the latest drives, as well as the hotfixes.  All of the features of the Navigation Wheel used to be at your finger tips and working seamlessly while you modelled away.

This one was of the best inventions since I started working with AutoCAD products V1.6. Yes, I have been at this a long time.  The 3D mouse saved me hours and hours during modeling.  I want those hours back.

Please, someone from AutoDesk Tech support get this figured out for us and soon.

I still have not heard back from 3DConnexion with a solution either.
