can see pipe & duct text size on one but not the other-need HELP

ok, this is what i mean-
i have version 2009 LT - i open up the cad file to look at it & can see the pipe sizes and many other text.
i the open up another cad file and i cannot see what i need to see-ie: pipe / duct sizes.

now, another eng uses 2006LT and can see everything just fine on any cad layout he opens.

question?
how is it that i have a newer version, but his can "see" the text & mine cannot?

help me & tell me where i need to go to turn something either on or off so i cna see the text i need to, to do my projects.

Go beyond "seeing": identify what that text is (font, xrefs, style, layer
etc.) on the machine that works, then find those settings and options on the
machine that does not work.
