I have recently installed Autocad Light 2011.
My machine now seems very slow to respond to commands such as "copy" of "move".
Once I have selected the item I wish to copy htere is maybe 2-3 second delay whilst the screen freezes.
I would be interested to know if anyone else has experienced this problem.
What's the OS and Computer specs?

Start here:
6-8 Gigs RAM I presume?

No, only 3GB. Do you think that may be part of the problem?

I believe Win 7 is using the 3 Gigs on its own. More is better.
Before you spend money though try the other items that Dean has listed and see if that gets you what you need.

I have tried most of the items on the list and they have had no effect.
So I suspect that the lack of RAM is a likely cause.
Thanks for your help.

3Gig is inadequate, and your PC specs are on the lower end. Is your video card also using system RAM to operate? Is this a laptop?
4Gig minimum, 6Gig better, ensure you have the HD space for the OS to move around and your video card is not stealing from system RAM to work.
Check to see if selection cycling is turned on. This causes the same problem on my machine all the time.
Charlie's link in his first reply addresses things to turn off in LT2011 including that item and many more, including 'taxing' Win7 features in a low-RAM PC.
CONSTANTLY and I can't find a solution. Quad Core 2.67 xeon, Win7-64bit + 12 GB ram +Nvidia Quadro FX3800. It's terrible!
I've tried about everything. Which is rediculous to even have to make that sort of statement.
Why? I don't know you from anyone else and you're not a participant in this thread, so who knows what you've done so far.
And what is 'everything' exactly? Elaborate in detail.
Is your issue this exact one in this thread top post: a PC with low RAM and accessing large files?
Or is your issue files with Xrefs? Images? PDF attachments?
All files, some files? New files?
PC specs? OS?
No no no, the comment was not directed at you. I was saying it was rediculous for me to have had to make the statement that I have tried everything.
Xeon 2.67 quad core, Win7-64, 12GB ram, Quadro FX3800
Try this:
Turn off Selection Cycling
Turn off the Layer Palette (don't just minimize).
Turn off the variables ROLLOVERTIPS and SHOWLAYERUSAGE and HPQUICKPREVIEW, turn on HPDLGMODE variable.
And if needed...
- Win7's Aero Glass option sometimes turned on by your PC/laptop's manufacturer, turn it off for all your power options.
note: you can turn Aero visual effects off for individual programs by right-clicking the shortcut, go to properties, then Compatibility Tab...check Disable Visual Themes.
- In Win7, on the Compatibility tab for the Shortcut Properties check these items to be on:
Disable visual themes
Disable display scaling on high DPI settings
Run this program as an administrator
