New Layers Will Not Re-Name

So all of a sudden, out of the blue I have a problem creating layers.

Whenever I create a new layer in the layer properties manager i give it a name (as you would) I then select make make current in the layer propertis manager so I progress to work in this new layer and..... The name changes back to the default Layer1 in the Layer Properties Manager but in the Layer dropdown the name of the layer is as i renamed it.

WHy Why Why???? this is happening on two non networked computers and on old drawings and new files alike.

The attached screenshot show the propblem; checkout the "colours" layer. Help Please

Use CLASSICLAYER command and see if the problem goes away.

Hi,

Does the issue persist after you install the service pack 1.1?

AutoCAD LT 2013 SP 1.1: http://usa.autodesk.com/getdoc/id=DL20327876

If it does, can you please send the drawing and detailed steps to reproduce?

Cheers,

Luciane

Development is aware of this behavior and are working on a solution for this.   In the meantime, if you select the All Layers filter, you'll be able to do what you want, and then switch back to the filter you were working in previously. Please try that and post back here if that works and gives the correct result.

Ok so this is a work around which means I can at least continue to work without going crazy; but for a product such as this should I be accepting workarounds???? Also its both impressive and frsutrating that the answer came up here before my Subscription request..... is there a point to Subscription? Smiley Frustrated

I have been an AutoCAD users for over a decade and only went to subscription in 2011.

Most every question that I have ever had has been fixed thru this Forum.

The one request that I did have on Subscription was handled quickly and easily.

Subscription is more than just getting questions answered. It is there for program updates and one on one service when there just is no other outlet.

It is good that there is monitoring of the requests and problems with AutoCAD in this and the other Autodesk Forums.

That says to me that Autodesk does want to make its product better and help its users as needed.

I would think that if Autodesk offers you a possible solution or acknowledgment of an issue thru several different channels then they are being proactive in solving your issue.
