Multiline Text Editor ghosted text

In the multiline text editor, I am unable to see the text well enough to edit it. Whereas in the drawing it is red in color, in the editor box it becomes "ghosted" and barely visible.
Can anyone help with this? Thanks in advance.

Turn Font Smoothing off in Windows>Control Panels>Display>Effects tab, or
somewhere similar depending on which version of Windows you have: it is not
an AutoCAD setting.
