Lines drawn on defpoint layer, unable to erase or move.

I'm working with someone else's drawing and I'm having a problem with the defpoint layer,  here's the problem:  I open the dwg. in model space, switch to paper space, insert my title block, switch the layer to defpoint, draw a viewport window, everything looks good except I can't move, resize, erase, or do anything with that viewport window, it's like it's frozen, won't even let me pick it, what's wrong here?  Can someone help me?  I'm using autocad lt 2007.

Is layer 0 frozen or off?  Defpoint items will be visible but unselectable when layer 0 is frozen or turned off.

make sure the layer is not locked

The layer defpoints is neither locked, frozen, or off.  Have you any other suggestions?  Thanks for any help.

Thaw and turn on layer 0 (zero) as the first reply noted.

If you still cannot erase those objects, they are part of a block, thaw/turn on all layers and unlock them and try again.

If all the above fail (I noted two things to try), post your DWG file here or send it back to the originator to fix for you.

Thanks for everyones help on this issue,  I ended up just starting over and got rid of that dwg. file, things are working fine now.

Next time OP, especially if you stand to lose a lot of work, there are a number of viable possibilities to try, starting with the advice about layer zero. Starting from scratch should be a last resort!

I hope my info was useful, but if by some odd chance it actually solved your issue, feel free to mark your post as "Accept as Solution". Thanks! 🙂

layer 0 was turned off. I turn layer 0 on and defpoints became selectable .

@ rickygm1012,

thanks for sharing what worked for you. I don't think the OP will come back to this thread but I'm sure other users who come across similar issues will find it helpful.

Thanks!
