Line Breaks

I am creating a 3D plan drawing in 2D paper space.

When 2 lines intersect one another I often break the lower line to indicate that it runs beneath the upper line.

This means that the lower line is effectively now 2 lines, with a space between the end of the 1st one and the beginning of the 2nd one.

Is there any way to break lines and keep the spacing consistent throughout the entire drawing rather than having to go back and move each individual line once broken?

Thanks.

Not that I know of.

One way might be to use lineweights and the draworder command.

Make your lines slightly thicker with lineweights and use draworder to
have them above or below other lines. Then when on screen and when
printed they will appear above or below each other.

Even this would be limited.

WIPEOUT command

NO Dean,

I don't think you are understanding the problem, get a grip.

I have this problem also, I currently offset the upper line by the same distance both left and right, I then trim the lower line using these two new lines I have created. I finally delete the two offset lines I have created. 3 commands but ensures consistency throughout the drawing.

WIPEOUT looks like a COPY as many times as needed and Bring To Front kind of thing.
Seems like it might be as easy as your solution. (Of course without testing and timing both options...)
I am recalling someone asking about something like this for circuitry some years ago. Hmmm...might go hunting!

Maybe this:
*^C^C_C;\1;_Trim;L;;\;_E;P;
Pick the Button, Pick your intersection, Pick the line to Trim, Right Click or Enter. Change the 1 in the macro to whatever you want the gap to be.

NO eoghanruadh, Dean is correct.
You can use the wipeout command to do as the original person wanted.
After you create the wipeout you have to select to line you want shown as continuous and use draworder to bring it to the front.
Then turn the wipeout frames off.
As Charles said, you can copy the wipeout frames (before you turn them off) and place them appropriately for a consistent appearance.
Works great!

WIPEOUT is a 2D object, like Lines, and can be positioned in any Z plane you
need.

Keeps the lower single line "a single line", the whole object of the OP's
post. All you are doing is recreating the OP's problem, 2-lines instead of
1-line at the "bottom".
