Layer Views

I must have hit a button somewhere but I can't figure out where. I keep the object properties menu at teh top of my screen. The main reason is for quick layer and linetype adjustments. Previously my layers have been organized alphabetically by name. Just this morning they seem to have reorganized with no logical pattern. I open the layer dialog and try to organize and save properties to menu but it isn't changing the menu and everytime I open the layer manager the layers have rearranged again back to the chaos order. How do I recover the setting I had before.

MAXSORT System variable, set it to a higher number.
