LT 2009 dtext

The position snap does not function after the command is executing. Is there a way to turn this back on as in previous versions?
e.g. I select single line text, middle justify, and click on a point (Snap On F9). Select the default size and rotation and type in two digits of text such as an ID number in the center of an icon. I then click on the center of the next icon and type the ID number, etc. The problem is that the text location does not snap to the center of the icon and it looks sloppy.

The current work-around is to type all of the text in a column the move each ID to the appropriate icon. This is obviously an inefficient way to label icons. Can the snap be enabled for the dtext command?

DTEXT has not worked like that in many versions
now: which 'older' version did you come from? Explore using TEXT instead, with a
repeater in your menu (or use it in conjunction with MULTIPLE
command).
