Hollow letters in a solid box

I am trying to get hollow letters in a solid box.

I used a font called swiss 721 blkouI bt which is hollow.

I made a solid red box.

The letters seem to go behind the box and not in it........   I know layering might be a factor, however I am now on my 2nd week of autocad......

DRAWORDER command: explore it in HELP.

But remember, hollow means you see through (or it's opaque) it so think of colors too (letters and background).
