FATAL ERROR: Unhandled Access Violation Reading 0x0c40 Exception

We are using a combination of autocad lt 2006 and dwg trueview 2008.

We have got a new HP Colour laserjet 5550 and now everytime we go to print (or preview) autocad or dwg truee view comes up with "FATAL ERROR: Unhandled Access Violation Reading0x0c40 Exception at [another hex number]

This only happens in autocad and only happens with the printer.
The printer is using pcl 6 drivers
Any ideas ?
thanks
nick

Are you plotting directly to the Windows Driver? Or going through a crates
PC3 file, or using something else?
Our 5550 works just fine here, never had a problem with it, using current
Windows Driver from HP's website.

thanks for the reply

we are plotting directly to the windows driver.

The printer is shared out from a server (but behind the scenes its a cluster server)

Try and install the driver locally and see if the problem goes away.

got it sort of sorted.

Our front printer server is actually behind the scenes a cluster server going to 2 servers. so the actual print server doesnt have any interface as such. When installing the printer on another server (non cluster) it works perfectly... So will log a call with HP to sort out...

I'm experiencing this issue with my new install of Autocad MEP 2020

I'm trying to trim a peace of hatch, I select the trim boundary just fine but when I move the cursor over top of the hatch to remove it crashes just as its trying to show the trim area preview.

Lloyd.

You can either turn of previewing altogether in MEP2020, or you can try turning off hardware acceleration in GRAPHICSCONFIG command to see if your crashes stop happening.

To Toggle Command Previewing off:
Click Application button > Options.
On the Selection tab, under Preview, clear the box atCommand Preview.

Me too I am facing this problem but for me, I have been trying to hatch a closed surface (boundary), and immediately the software crashes and I get this message of error: [AutoCAD 2020] FATAL ERROR: Unhandled Access Violation Reading 0x0c40 Exception at DCEC1390h.

Any help!! Please help us

Start ABOUT command to confirm you have the required 2020.1.3 update, if not, get it installed (then restart your PC).
Then ensure your file is not the problem: open it with RECOVER command, then QSAVE.

If all the above does not help, read the posted solutions from Autodesk to try here https://www.google.com/search?q=autocad+2020+crashes+when+hatching
