Don't Want Text To Change In Block

I can't figure how to edit my blocks without changing all the blocks that have inserted in my drawings. For example if I put a section cut in a drawing and then use it for more than one section when I edit my second section cut the first one changes to agree with the second. I tried to attach a file but was not allowed.

Thanks,
Chris Edmonds

Sounds like you are either using the wrong command to edit, editing a
permanent portion of the block instead of the attribute, or you have text
and not an attribute in your block.

Clarify in detail using AutoCAD command names or procedures and descriptions
of what you are editing exactly.

If OP goes to BEDIT and updates the block would not all instances update? Hence the problem? Can a single instance of the block be edited? That would be new news to me.

Yes, Yes, I'm always learning something new if that be the case...

I start with a circle and a line to create the object I need. I then add Mtext to the object and then create a block. When I edit the block I go to tools/block editor or just double click on the block, I then change the text which then causes my problem. I tried using attributes but was unable to get the text to cooperate like the Mtext.

Have you tried nesting the attribute/mtext portion as a block within? When the top block is exploded to edit the attribute block would still be available and could be edited for each instance.

You don't use text/mtext: what you need to do is add an attribute.

Attributes can change without changing the block. Text/Mtext acts like the
other block entities, ones you edit the change is reflected in all blocks.

No offense, but with that thinking, why not just add text floating over the
block, same effect, TWO entities instead of one.

The OP need to limit his use to attributes if they need the object to remain
intact. They can be multi-line if that is the limit of the need.

None taken, I do this with section cut bubbles so that I can explode the bubble and resize as needed but still keep the text information there. Both entities arrive at the same destination w/o as much input on my end.

Thanks to all who replied. Ok I figured it out, draw the circle and line then define attributes turn into a block and then I can edit without changing all blocks in drawing. It's easy once you figure out tags and all of that stuff. Is their a way to stack text and have text with different heights when you do multi line attribute?

No, a limitation for now. Add more than one Attribute if needed.
