A few thoughts

I like the concept and it is executed fairly well
so far, but there are a few things that need some fixing.

1.    How do you make
blocks?  I haven't been able to figure out if objects can be combined and
if so, how.

2.    Cooper needs to be able
to open ALL dwg files, regardless of source for this to even be a semi-serious
tool for many trades that work off of existing site plans.

3.    The toolbars/palettes
need to be more cutomizable, roll-away/autohide, and configure for smaller
screens.  (See screenshot) This was on a 1024 x 768 screen.

4.    Performance needs a
boost.  So far it is slower than my ACAD LT 2009 on the same
computer.

Thanks Nick!

These are all very good suggestions. As we discussed in a different thread, you cannot create your own custom symbols in Cooper at this time, but we are considering supporting it in a future update or release.

We are also working on dwg import as we speak - our goal is to support most (if not all) dwg files that were created in other applications. We are also working on boosting the overall performance of the application and are looking at ways to mitigate the 'palette' problem. Do you typically work with a 1024 x 768 resolution?

Thanks again for all the feedback!

A few more thoughts:

  1. Help toolbar can't go in the upper portion of
screen.  Why?  Whenever I drag it above halfway, it snaps back below
    the middle of the screen.

  2. Strange behavior on a dual screen setup.

    1. When on the left screen if I maximize the window
the palette jumps to the right screen left edge.

    2. When I move the window to the right screen all
of the toolbars disappear.  See screen capture (I couldn't get video,
Cooper does not like Camtasia running)

    3. When on the right screen, if I maximize/restore
the window, the left screen refreshes.

  3. When a drawing is opened from the welcome screen,
a new instance of Cooper is opened while "Drawing1" stays open.  Drawing
selected in welcome screen should open in current instance while "drawing1" is
    closed.

My standard work screen is 1280 x 1024 (x2), but my laptop is smaller (1024
x 768), and my next one will be either an ultra-portable laptop (no larger
than a 15" screen) or a high-end netbook, so yeah, I see my typical
(portable) screen resolution at 1024 x 768 or smaller.

What is the update on importing/exporting .dwg files between Freestyle and other AutoCad versions. We also have 2004 here and would like to use Freestyle to get general schematics drawn, and 2004 to refine them. Does it work to import/export files back and forth between LT?

hi -

Freestyle currently saves to the 2007 DWG file format. You can read more about DWG compatibility in the PDF posted to this page - http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/pc/index?siteID=123112&id=14985127
