    Up to date express tools?

Is there or will there ever be a version of express tools designed specifically
for the current version of AutoCAD? The saved version that I'm using is over a
year old. Many of the tools have been added to Acad 2002 as standard features
and as such are redundant. Further, some express tools are incompatible with
their standard counterparts. For example, if I save a layer state with express
layer manager it doesn't show up in the built-in layer manager and vice versa.
Has this been addressed or is the current version identical to the one from the
last VIP CD? I suppose I could customize the menu to weed out the unnecessary
ones but I really think that for a hundred and fify bucks I ought to get
something that I don't need to fix.

Express Tools stopped at v9 18 months ago I believe.
Purely my 2cents worth, but probably not to be developed further as
initially presented: Autodesk is going into this subscription thing for all
AutoCAD software, and if you join, you get quarterly tools and add-ons that
may very well address some or most of those tools.
If you do not sign up, you will get most of these tools rolled up into the
next version of AutoCAD when you upgrade.

Actually, I have a VIP contract but the subscription people haven't decided
whether to allow me into their inner sanctum yet. (That's a whole 'nother can of
    worms.)

My point is Adesk should be ashamed to charge good money, whether it's by
subscription or regular purchase, for express tools if they're not going to
maintain them. If it was a freebie I could understand the absence of support and
I wouldn't mind having to do some tweaking, but when I purchase a product, I
    expect more than that.

http://pointa.autodesk.com is how you access VIP now, sign up, and then log
on. You can check status of your VIP, and get access to Express Tools and
    the updated lesson plans.

As for the rest of your comment, lots of people share your sentiments.

Not if you haven't received your invitation to the new subscription program which many of
    us are still waiting for.
