    Template files 2012 and 2010

I work on two different versions of AutoCAD. At home I use 2013 and at school I use 2011. Now I know how to back save the .dwg files with extreme ease. But the templates .dwt files have no such luxury. Am I forced to create and use two different templates or is there a way that I can manilpulate and use the template in both versions?

You can create a DWT template file by just renaming the DWG extension using Windows Explorer (and back again): it's never been anymore complicated than that.

And who said youvcannot use a 2011 template file in 2013? are you just afraid to look for the template folder on your computer?

I woukld attempt to open a template I had created in 2013 and it would say that it was made using  newer version of AutoCAD. So I wasn't ignoreing it simply refused to open. Though it may be as simple as that I created the template off of a DWG as 2013 and I should just create one as a 2010 as you say. Thank you for your suggestion

2013 is a new format: you can go up, but not down, with template files.
So commit to the older version fully. Enjoy.
